veselbev was started in 2006 by George Vesel and Kathy Pelz.
Working a booth together at a Kansas City barbeque competition, George and Kathy discussed the possibility of utilizing their talents to form a beverage brokerage. They had known each other for several years and had worked together on and led the boards of several wine and food organizations. Considering their backgrounds the beverage brokerage seemed a natural.

George Vesel has been in the wines & spirits business for his entire adult career.
He has held virtually every position in wine and spirits distributors; warehouse, office, sales and management. He has been a regional sales manager for a wine importer. George was managing partner for an award winning restaurant. He also owned a gourmet food brokerage.
He is a Kansas City Chapter founding member, board member and former chair of The American Institute of Wine & Food (AIWF). Former vice-chair Heart of America March of Dimes. George has been a member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs.
He is a Kansas City Chapter founding member, board member and co-chair of Slow Food.
He is a board member of The Kansas City Community Gardens.
George is an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 93 and member of honor camping societies of Order of the Arrow and Mic-O-Say.
He is a committee member of the Lewis and Clark Historic Park at Kaw Point and founder and president of The American Barbeque Hall of Fame and Museum (in development).
